The Elgin Development Group understands that a skilled workforce is critical to business success. Through our community partnerships, the EDG is focused on ensuring businesses have access to a highly talented labor force and residents have the education and training they need to compete in a global economy.

The K-12 school districts serving the Elgin area prepare students to be college and career ready. As a result, students have access to partnerships in precision manufacturing and welding leading to NIMS and AWS certifications.

Reorganizing 65 percent of all jobs in the economy will require postsecondary education and training beyond high school. elgin Community College offers six associate degree programs and more 140 career-oriented occupational degree and certificate programs. From 2010-2016, There were nearly 15,000 graduates from ECC

The EDG Workforce Development Committee has been cited as a best practice for developing a robust partnership with community resources providers for improving worker skills.
